What does ABUS security level 3 mean?

ABUS rates every bike lock on its own security-level scale, which tops out at 15 (its BORDO GRANIT 6500K folding lock is a 15). ABUS rates this 10 mm coil cable a 3 and describes it as good protection where the theft risk is low — it recommends it for entry-level and children’s bikes. For an expensive bike or long stops in the city, use a higher-rated lock and keep this one as a second lock.

Key or combination: which ABUS cable lock should I choose?

It is the same protection either way: ABUS rates the Primo 5510K (key) and Numero 5510C (combination) both 3, and the Microflex 6615K (key) and Tresorflex 6615C (combination) both 5. A combination lock means no key to lose and, as ABUS notes, suits a bike shared by several people; a key lock means there is no code to remember.

What is the difference between the versions with and without bracket?

Only the SCMU bracket in the box. The lock is the same: 180 cm long, 10 mm coil cable. ABUS lists 460 g for the lock alone and 508 g with the SCMU bracket.

Which bracket: SCMU or SCLL?
