Mille GT C2 or the newer Mille GT S11?

The C2 is the previous generation of Assos’s core endurance bib. It uses the Type.429 fabric, X-frame suspension, a silicone-free 6 cm elastane leg band and the original goldenGate insert mounting (Assos list price €145). The S11 moves to the lighter QUARTZ fabric, rollBar bracing, the PILtec leg band, goldenGate 2.0 and a 12 mm insert with a Sundeck Tec front panel, with longer legs (€160). Assos says the S11 is lighter; the C2 remains a proven daily bib if it’s in your size.

What do S11, T5, C2, ST and 2/3 mean in Assos names?

S11, T5 and C2 are Assos generation names: S11 is the current generation of the Equipe/Dyora racing and Mille/Uma endurance bibs, T5 the current Tactica gravel range (Assos says the Tactica Kieskäfer T5 replaces the Mille GTC Kiespanzer C2), and C2 the earlier Mille/Uma generation, still on sale while stock lasts. Assos doesn’t explain the letters themselves. In our titles, “ST” means Assos’s Standard leg length (the Long version is 3 cm longer) and “2/3” is Assos’s spring-fall season code (1/3 summer, 3/3 winter).

What is Assos’s Endurance Series (Mille and Uma)?

Mille | Endurance (men) and Uma | Endurance (women) are what Assos describes as its complete series for long-distance riding: streamlined regularFit cuts, ultra-plush inserts and muscle-hugging, temperature-regulating fabrics. Our Mille GT, GTS, GTO and GTS Spring Fall, and the Uma GT, GTV and GT Half Shorts, are in it. Assos rates these bibs 4/5 or 5/5 for endurance; for racing, look at Equipe | Racing (men) and Dyora | Racing (women).

How do Assos bib shorts fit, and which size should I pick?

Measure around the narrowest part of your waist, then factor in your height, with the fullest part of your hips as a third reference, and check Assos’s chart in the size guide. Assos cuts its bibs to mirror your body on the bike: it’s normal to feel the straps and fabric pull while standing, and the shorts “click” into place once you’re in the riding position.

Zero-Pressure Waist (C2)

A comfort-fit waist with a new elastic that reduces sag and keeps its stretch-and-return.

X-frame (C2)

An A-frame suspension inherited from the Mille GTS bibs that limits sag on the lower back and stabilises the chamois and main body panel.

Ultralight leg grippers

A 6 cm elastane band grips the thigh naturally, without silicone, for a smooth, ultralight hold.

Shock-Absorb Damping Mono (C2)

Compressive foam layers in an endurance platform. Thermoformed shaping reduces ridges and irritation.

goldenGate

The stitching anchors the insert at the front and back but lets its body float, so the chamois moves with you rather than against you.

3D Waffle

A patented, three-layer perforated foam that adds breathability and removes excess weight (Assos).
