Comfortfeel Classic, Soft or Tacky: which one?

All three are Fizik’s 3.5 mm Comfortfeel tape; the surface is the difference. Classic has a durable, perforated leather-like finish for a traditional look. Soft has a matte velvet finish that Fizik says wicks sweat and moisture and reduces slipping in the wet. Tacky has a non-slip, embossed tacky surface and a softer, more elastic single layer that wraps more easily and weighs less: 78 g vs 119 g for Classic and Soft.

Will 3.5 mm tape make my bars feel thicker?

Slightly — that is the idea. Fizik calls Comfortfeel the thickest tape in its range and says the 3.5 mm thickness increases handlebar diameter a little, spreading your weight over a wider grip to reduce numbness and fatigue on rough roads. If you prefer a slimmer, more direct feel, one of Fizik’s 2 mm tapes is the better choice.

How much tape is in the box?

Fizik says every bar-tape pack contains two rolls, one for each side of the handlebar, and each roll is 2350 mm long.

Comfortfeel

Fizik’s most streamlined cushioned construction: a single-layer, chunky platform about 3.5 mm thick to rest your hands on during longer rides without a weight penalty. It is the thickest of Fizik’s three bar-tape feels — race feel, ride feel and comfort feel.

Wrapped comfort

Fizik pitches Comfortfeel Soft as a premium all-road/gravel tape: the 3.5 mm thickness improves comfort and vibration damping on every surface, from smooth tarmac to cobbles and chunky gravel, and the wider grip surface reduces hand numbness, discomfort and fatigue. The matte-look velvet finish is soft to the touch and, Fizik says, wicks sweat and moisture for greater control.

Description

The 3.5 mm Comfortfeel tape with Fizik’s soft-touch, matte velvet finish, which Fizik says wicks sweat and moisture and minimises slipping when riding in the wet. Same thickness and cushioning as the Classic, for gravel and rough roads; pick the Tacky if you want a stickier, lighter tape.
