Both are Fizik road, gravel and XC helmets with an occipital dial, crown adjustment and top vents that hold your sunglasses. The Kudo has Mips Air Node, comes with the USB rear light and helmet bag, and Fizik claims 280 g; Virginia Tech gave it four stars (12.86). The Kyros uses Mips Evolve Core, sets its crown with detachable pins in three positions, is ready for the Fizik rear light but doesn’t include it, and weighs 295 g in size M (CE version, Fizik); Virginia Tech hasn’t tested it yet.

Does the helmet come with a rear light?

The Kudo, Kudo Aero and Kassis do: a USB-rechargeable LED taillight with several modes for day and night, which fits into the same rear port as the removable reflector, plus a helmet bag. The Kyros comes with the removable reflector and is compatible with the Fizik LED taillight, but Fizik lists the light as not included.

Do Fizik helmets have Mips?

Yes, all four do, in two versions. The Kudo, Kudo Aero and Kassis use Mips Air Node: an ultralight, low-friction layer built into the padding that dissipates rotational forces in a crash and comes out for cleaning. The Kyros uses Mips Evolve Core: a low-friction layer between the liner and the shell, which Fizik says helps dissipate rotational forces in angled impacts.

Which Fizik helmet size do I need?

Measure your head circumference just above the eyebrows and ears. Fizik uses one chart for the Kudo, Kudo Aero, Kassis and Kyros: S 52–56 cm, M 56–59 cm, L 59–61 cm (20.5–22, 22–23, 23–24 in). If you measure exactly 56 or 59 cm you are on the line between two sizes and Fizik gives no tie-break, so try both if you can; the occipital dial and the crown adjustment then fine-tune the fit.

Vented rounded shell

A sleek, rounded design that reduces bulk for low weight and good thermoregulation, with strategically placed vents and rear openings that help dissipate heat, Fizik says. The top-side vents hold your sunglasses when you’re not wearing them.

Crown-fit adjustment

Detachable red pins set the crown in three positions so the helmet follows the exact shape of your head; a micrometric dial at the occipital stabiliser adjusts tilt for comfort and eyewear, and lightweight webbing around the ears completes the adjustment.

Mips Evolve Core

The Kyros’s rotational-impact system: a lightweight, low-friction layer between the liner and the shell that helps dissipate rotational forces in angled impacts, inside an in-moulded EPS-PC shell that spreads impact forces across the helmet, according to Fizik.

Light-ready rear

A removable passive rear reflector, and a mount for the Fizik USB-rechargeable LED taillight, which blends into the helmet’s shape and offers several modes for day and night riding. On the Kyros the light is sold separately.
