For slushy tracks and snow-covered trails

For slushy tracks and snow-covered trails

An all-mountain winter shoe that Fizik describes as fully insulated, waterproof and breathable, with an advanced PFAS-free GORE-TEX membrane, for snow-covered technical trails and icy gravel.

Warm feet = fast feet

Warm feet = fast feet

An insulated fleece liner and thermal insole keep feet warm and dry when temperatures drop, says Fizik, under a layered, hard-wearing ripstop woven upper that resists abrasion and tearing.

Guarded against the elements

Toecap, heel and sides are fully reinforced with thermo-laminated PU. A BOA dial gives a quick, micro-adjustable fit, and a zippered ankle cuff keeps the worst of the weather outside, according to Fizik.

X2 outsole: made to move you

X2 outsole: made to move you

Balanced between pedalling efficiency and flex for walking (Fizik stiffness index 3): a compressed EVA midsole for stability and cushioning, Vibram XS Trek EVO rubber with a directional lug pattern for soft ground and slick rock, and an extended cleat track with more set-back.

BOA Fit System

A single BOA dial closes the shoe. Fizik calls it a practical way to dial in the fit on the Atlas, and a quick, accurate, micro-adjustable fit on the Nanuq GTX; it does not name the dial model for these two shoes.

Frequently asked questions

Answered from this product’s published information. Questions about orders or anything else go to our team.

Are the Terra Artica GTX and Terra Nanuq GTX waterproof?

Yes. Both have a PFAS-free GORE-TEX membrane — an insulated GORE-TEX Cirrus XT on the Artica — and Fizik describes both as fully insulated, waterproof and breathable, with a fleece lining for warmth. The Artica closes the top with a Velcro strap around the ankle; the Nanuq with a zippered ankle cuff that Fizik says keeps the worst of the weather outside.

Terra Artica GTX or Terra Nanuq GTX?

Both are Fizik’s insulated GORE-TEX winter shoes; the difference is how much you pedal versus walk. The Artica is the pedalling shoe: X5 nylon-composite outsole at stiffness index 5, Velcro ankle strap plus a BOA L6 dial, 432 g, for winter gravel and trail riding. The Nanuq is the walking shoe: X2 outsole at stiffness index 3 with a compressed EVA midsole and Vibram XS Trek EVO rubber, a zippered ankle cuff, a ripstop upper reinforced with thermo-laminated PU, 438 g, for all-mountain riding in snow and slush.

Which size should I get?

Go by foot length, not by the size of your other shoes. Stand on a sheet of paper, measure from the back of the heel to the tip of the longest toe, and find that length in Fizik’s size guide (the “Size guide” link next to the sizes): 270 mm is EU 42, 277 mm is EU 43. Fizik makes half sizes, and lists all these models as regular fit. Which sizes are in stock varies by colour, so check the size selector.

Which pedals and cleats do these shoes take?

Two-bolt cleats, the SPD-type system used by mountain-bike and gravel pedals. Fizik lists the outsole of the Ferox, Proxy, Atlas, Artica and Nanuq as “Clipless off-road” with adjustable cleat position, and the Beat as SPD-compatible with a two-bolt cleat track hidden in the sole. If your pedals are three-bolt road pedals (Shimano SPD-SL, Look Kéo), you need a road shoe instead.

How to measure

Stand on a sheet of paper with your heel against a wall, mark the tip of your longest toe and measure the distance in centimetres. Measure both feet and go by the longer one.
