How does Fizik sizing work, and do you have half sizes?

Fizik sizes its shoes by foot length: measure your foot in millimetres, heel to longest toe, and read the size from Fizik’s table in the size guide — 263.5 mm is EU 41, 270 mm is EU 42, 277 mm is EU 43. Fizik makes these road shoes from EU 36 to 48, with half sizes from 37.5 to 46.5. We stock whole sizes only, so compare your measurement with the table before ordering.

Vega Carbon or Vento Omna?

They sit at opposite ends of the Vento road range. The Vega Carbon is Fizik’s top-level race shoe: integrated full-carbon outsole (stiffness 10), Aeroweave Pro upper, two Li2 BOA dials, 239 g, €399 RRP. The Vento Omna is the entry point: R5 nylon outsole (stiffness 6), PU upper, one L6 BOA dial, 238 g, €149 RRP. Choose the Vega if you race or want the most direct pedalling; the Omna if you’re starting out or want a more forgiving sole. Weight is not the difference — Fizik lists them 1 g apart.

Both are nylon-composite road shoes for training and long rides. The Lyra steps up with a stiffer outsole (index 8 vs 6), two Li2 BOA dials instead of one L6, an engineered mesh upper and Fizik’s newer shape with a rounder toe box and reduced drop (259 g, €249 RRP). The Omna is lighter at 238 g and cheaper at €149 RRP, with a PU upper and a cleat position set slightly back.

Why is the cleat position set further back on these shoes?

On its recent outsoles (Vento Omna’s R5, the Vento Powerstrap Aeroweave’s R3, the PNS Mechanism’s R2) Fizik places the cleat slightly further back than traditional shoes. It says this improves pedalling efficiency and reduces knee compression, and suits aggressive, forward aero positions. If you’re coming from another shoe, set your cleats up afresh rather than copying the old position.

How stiff are Fizik’s road soles?

Fizik rates each outsole on its own stiffness index. In the Vento road shoes we carry, the Vega Carbon, Vento Powerstrap Aeroweave and PNS Mechanism are 10 (full carbon, which Fizik calls its most responsive), the Lyra is 8 and the Vento Omna is 6 (both nylon composite). Higher is stiffer and more direct; the lower numbers trade some directness for comfort on long rides. It’s Fizik’s own scale, so compare within Fizik rather than against other brands’ numbers.

Fizik built the Omna to bring features that recall its top-tier shoes to riders training for a first race or facing big climbs. A PU upper keeps it light, well ventilated and comfortable.

L6 BOA Fit System

A single L6 BOA dial with textile lace guides, in a layout similar to Fizik’s Infinito closure. Fizik says the guides balance tension and pull the eyelets inwards from all directions, removing pressure hot spots for a supportive, comfortable fit.

R5 nylon outsole

The redesigned R5 nylon outsole gives comfort with moderate stiffness (index 6). Fizik sets the cleat slightly further back than usual to improve pedalling efficiency and reduce knee compression, and a wide vent inlet brings cooling air.
