Is there a wide version of the Vento Proxy?

Yes, Fizik makes a Vento Proxy Wide: the same 326 g, stiffness-index-8 shoe with a single BOA Li2 dial, but on a wide fit. The Vento Proxy we stock is the regular fit (Fizik lists it as “Regular”), so if you usually need wide shoes, ask us before ordering.

Terra Atlas or Vento Proxy?

It depends on how much you ride versus walk. The Proxy is Fizik’s race shoe for XC, cyclocross and fast gravel: a carbon-reinforced nylon X3 sole at stiffness index 8, a single BOA Li2 dial, 326 g. The Atlas is the all-rounder: a hidden nylon plate at stiffness index 5, the lugged X5 outsole with rubber over the whole surface for hike-a-bike, a more generous fit and a TPU-reinforced toecap, 355 g. Racing or fast training: Proxy. Long days, bikepacking and rough trails where you’ll push: Atlas.

Which size should I get?

Go by foot length, not by the size of your other shoes. Stand on a sheet of paper, measure from the back of the heel to the tip of the longest toe, and find that length in Fizik’s size guide (the “Size guide” link next to the sizes): 270 mm is EU 42, 277 mm is EU 43. Fizik makes half sizes, and lists all these models as regular fit. Which sizes are in stock varies by colour, so check the size selector.

Which pedals and cleats do these shoes take?

Two-bolt cleats, the SPD-type system used by mountain-bike and gravel pedals. Fizik lists the outsole of the Ferox, Proxy, Atlas, Artica and Nanuq as “Clipless off-road” with adjustable cleat position, and the Beat as SPD-compatible with a two-bolt cleat track hidden in the sole. If your pedals are three-bolt road pedals (Shimano SPD-SL, Look Kéo), you need a road shoe instead.
