Is the Emerge Long Sleeve Jersey warm enough for winter?

No, and MAAP doesn't pitch it as one: it rates the Emerge LS for 18–35 °C and hot conditions. It is a race-fit long sleeve for sun, spring and early autumn. For cold rides MAAP makes thermal jerseys: the Apex Aeon Thermal LS (rated 0–10 °C) and the Halo Team Thermal LS (6–16 °C).

How does MAAP sizing run? Should I size up for a Race Fit jersey?

MAAP uses one men's chart for all its jerseys: chest 94–100 cm is an M, for example (see the size guide). Race Fit jerseys are cut close and compressive, so they feel tighter than a Core Fit jersey in the same size, but MAAP does not tell you to size up. Its advice: between two sizes, take the smaller for a tighter fit or the larger for a looser one, and if chest and waist disagree, go by your chest.

Pro Air LS 3.0 or Emerge LS Jersey?

Both are Race Fit long sleeves for warm weather. The Pro Air LS 3.0 is the lighter, airier one: 130 g of micro-perforated polyester that MAAP rates for 22–40 °C. The Emerge LS is heavier at 165 g, in a soft Italian recycled nylon knit with honeycomb mesh sleeves and controlled compression, rated for 18–35 °C. Pick the Pro Air for real heat, the Emerge for a more supportive, softer feel over a wider range.

What is the difference between MAAP Race Fit and Core Fit?

MAAP defines Race Fit as "a body-mapped fit designed for maximum aerodynamic efficiency" (Pro Air 3.0, Pro Race, Pro Aero, Emerge) and Core Fit as "a streamlined, athletic profile" (Training 2.0, Apex Aeon, Alt_Road, thermals). Both are close to the body; Race Fit is the tighter, more compressive one that stays flat at speed, Core Fit leaves a little more room for long days. Both use the same size chart.

Race Fit

MAAP’s Race Fit: in MAAP’s words, “a body-mapped fit designed for maximum aerodynamic efficiency”. It is the tighter, more compressive of MAAP’s two fits and stays flat at speed; both fits use the same size chart.

Italian recycled knit

An ultra-soft, recycled knitted Italian fabric across the main body; MAAP pairs comfort and performance with its sustainability goals.

Honeycomb mesh sleeves

Recycled honeycomb mesh sleeves that MAAP says give optimal shape, structure and breathability.

Race Fit, low collar

A compressive, second-skin Race Fit with a low-profile collar. MAAP defines Race Fit as a body-mapped fit designed for maximum aerodynamic efficiency.

Bonded shoulders

An upgraded bonded shoulder construction reduces bulk for a streamlined profile from the hoods to the drops, according to MAAP.

Internal zip pocket

Extra storage in a sleek, secure, low-profile internal rear zip pocket.

Reflective details

Reflective print transfers and tabs for extra visibility in low light, MAAP says.

MAAP: if you are on the borderline between two sizes, order the smaller size for a tighter fit or the larger size for a looser fit. If your chest and waist point to different sizes, go by your chest. MAAP uses this one chart for all its men's jerseys, Race Fit and Core Fit alike; its models (about 187 cm) wear a size S.

How to measure

Chest: around the fullest part, under the arms. Waist: around your natural waistline. Hips: around the fullest part. Keep the tape snug but not tight.
