Which Scope Artech depth should I choose?

Scope positions the Artech 2 (22 mm, 965 g set) for steep climbs and uphill racing, the Artech 4 (45 mm, 1,120 g) as the all-round wheel for mountains and cross-winds, the Artech 6 (65 mm, 1,244 g) as an aero wheel without a weight penalty, and the Artech 8.T (85 mm, 1,464 g) for time trials and triathlon. The .A versions are the same depths with a wider 25 mm rim for 30 mm tyres, and the 4.G is the dedicated gravel wheel.

What is the difference between the Artech road wheels and the .A all-road versions?

Same depths (22, 45 and 65 mm) and technologies, but a wider rim. The road Artech 2/4/6 have a 23 mm internal width optimised for 28 mm tyres (28–65 mm compatible); the Artech 2.A/4.A/6.A have 25 mm internal, optimised for 30 mm road or gravel tyres (29–71 mm compatible), and weigh a little more: 990 vs 965 g, 1,200 vs 1,120 g and 1,319 vs 1,244 g per set (Scope).

Are Scope Artech rims hooked or hookless?

All Artech road and all-road rims (2, 4, 6, 2.A, 4.A, 6.A, 8.T and the Disc) are hooked and tubeless-ready, compatible with tubeless and clincher tyres, with a maximum tyre pressure of 8.6 bar / 125 psi. The Artech 4.G gravel wheel is hookless: use hookless-approved tubeless tyres and stay under its 4.0 bar / 58 psi limit.

Which freehub and bearing options are available?

Every Artech is offered with a Shimano HG, Shimano Micro Spline, SRAM XD/XDR, Campagnolo or Campagnolo N3W freehub, all on Scope’s 36T Diamond Ratchet engagement. Bearings are SKF as standard (2 × 61803 front; 3 × 61803 + 1 × 61903 rear), with a CeramicSpeed upgrade that Scope prices at €500 on a wheelset and €351 on the Artech Disc.

What axles and brakes do Artech wheels fit?

Disc brakes only: 12 × 100 mm thru-axle front and 12 × 142 mm rear, with a Centerlock rotor interface on both hubs (Scope).

What comes with an Artech wheelset?

Scope lists a lifetime warranty, lifetime crash replacement and a certificate of authenticity for the Artech series. Tubeless rim tape and valves come pre-installed, and the box includes the Carbonlite Aerospoke spoke and nipple key, an Artech accessory bag with cleaning materials and padded wheel bags. Scope sets no rider weight limit.

Algorithm Enhanced Aerodynamics

Scope defines the shape of its rims with its Algorithm Enhanced Aerodynamics (AEA) technology: an algorithm that optimises the rim profile for aerodynamic performance.

Aeroscales surface structure

The scale pattern on the rim surface creates velocity streaks travelling at different speeds over the rim. Scope says this stabilises the airflow and reduces drag.

Local Reinforcement

Scope adds carbon layers only around the spoke holes on the inside of the rim, which it says significantly reduces weight while keeping strength and stiffness.

Scope Tubeless System

The rim-bed geometry is designed for easy mounting, direct inflation and long-lasting pressure. On the hooked Artech rims Scope states compatibility with all clincher and tubeless tyres; the hookless 4.G takes hookless-approved tubeless tyres.

3D-printed Scalmalloy hub

A bone-like hub structure produced by topology optimisation and 3D-printed in Scalmalloy, which Scope says makes the hub light and strong. Scope states the Artech is 3D-printed in Germany.

36T Diamond Ratchet SL

A titanium ratchet engagement system with a diamond-like carbon coating: direct engagement, improved durability and a significant weight reduction, according to Scope.

Carbonlite Aerospokes

Carbon aero spokes that Scope says give high lateral stiffness, for efficiency when accelerating and climbing, with a shape optimised to reduce drag. A spoke and nipple key comes with the wheels.
