Is the Propero 4 as fast as the S-Works helmets?

What is the difference between Mips Evolve and Mips Air Node?

Both manage the rotational forces of an angled impact, but they are built differently. Air Node is integrated into the helmet's padding, which keeps the vents clear and saves weight — Specialized calls it Mips' most ventilation-focused solution and uses it on the S-Works helmets. Evolve is a separate low-friction layer that slides 10 to 15 mm in any direction, and is what the Propero 4 uses.

Should I choose the S-Works Evade 4 or the Prevail 3?

The Evade 4 is the aero helmet: a closed shell shaped for speed, for racing and fast group rides. The Prevail 3 is the ventilated one, built around maximum airflow for heat and long climbs. Specialized quotes roughly 290 g for the Evade 4 and 250-260 g for the Prevail 3, so the Prevail is also the lighter of the two.

How do I choose the right helmet size?

Measure your head with a tape about one centimetre above the eyebrows, at the widest point, and match that to the model's size range. On the KASK Mojito 3 for example small covers 50-56 cm, medium 52-58 cm and large 59-62 cm. If you fall between two sizes, head shape decides it, so come and try both in the shop.

Mips Evolve

The rotational-impact system on the Propero 4: a low-friction layer that lets the helmet slide 10 to 15 mm in any direction. Specialized cites studies indicating this reduces some of the rotational force reaching the brain in an angled impact. It is a different solution from the Air Node used on the S-Works helmets.

FS3 Fit System

The Propero 4's retention system, paired with Occipital Base Adjustment. Specialized says it personalises fit to individual head shapes and lets the helmet angle be adjusted — the practical use being to stop the shell fouling the arms of your glasses. An adjustable Tri-Fix web splitter sets how the straps sit under the ear.
