WAHOO Elemnt Bolt Gps V2 2021 Bike Computer

The new Wahoo Elemnt Bolt GPS unit is the latest addition to the cycling computer range of Wahoo, rebranding and refreshing the Elmnt Bolt with new features, that includes a new colour screen, improved navigation, additional memory and much more features.

The features of the Elmnt Roam have been inherited from its big brother from the lineup,  but with a much more familiar small-and-sleek form factor used in the original Elmnt Bolt.

64 - Colour Display

The Wahoo Elmnt Bolt GPS features a fresh and new 64-colour display, and according to Wahoo, all these colours are being used precisely where they are needed, mainly on the map screen, helping to improve the clarity of the display. It is being used as well in the menus and to highlight the training zones for data fields, like power or heart rate. The size of the screen is 2.2 inches, like its predecessor, covered in Gorilla Glass for increased super-durability. The single strip of LEDs at the top of the unit remains, and an ambient light sensor has been added, providing automation for screen brightness. 

Improved Gps navigation

The navigation has been improved significantly to bring it up to speed with the Roam, meaning that the new Elmnt Bolt offers route and re-route from the device itself, instead of relying on your smartphone like the previous version. 

Like the Roam, wordlwide maps have been included for free vía the companion app, and you can choose to store the maps on the device. The new Elmnt Bolt features now 16GB of memory, allowing you to store more maps, more routes and more activities. 

15 hours battery life

In spite of adding all this new functionalities, Wahoo claims that the battery life lasts a lengthy 15-hours and when it comes to charging, the new USB-C connector allows the unit to be charged faster at 5 amperes instead of 1.5 amperes. 

Aerodynamic shape

The unit retains the well known aerodynamic shape from its predecessor, modified just slighly to be a bit thinner. The old mount is compatible but wont sit flush.

Improved clickeable buttons

One of the complains about the older Wahoo Bolt was that the buttons were hard to press, but now Wahoo has tackled this making the front facing buttons convex in shape, and giving all buttons a lighter and more tactile feel. 

Accelerometer for crash detection

Wahoo says that they have included an accelerometer in the new version of the bolt, although right now performs no function. It looks like in the future Wahoo will implement some software features to use it as a crash detector.
