Which Assos bib shorts for cool weather?

Assos gives each bib a temperature range. All the summer models we carry — Equipe, Dyora, Mille, Uma and Tactica Kieskäfer — are rated above +21 °C. The Mille GTS Spring Fall S11 and the Tactica Spring Fall T5 (men’s and women’s) are rated +12 to +20 °C, and the Dyora R Spring Fall S11 is the warmest, rated +4 to +11 °C. None is a rain garment: Assos rates the Dyora R Spring Fall 2/5 for wind and water protection and the Mille GTS and Tactica Spring Fall 1/5 — they shed spray and light showers, not a downpour.

What is Assos’s Tactica | Adventure series?

Tactica | Adventure is what Assos calls its series for singletrack: mobility-enhancing cuts, integrated protection, flexible temperature-regulating fabrics and integrated storage. Our Tactica Kieskäfer and Tactica Spring Fall bibs (men’s and women’s) are in it, all with thigh pockets. Assos rates them 5/5 for adventure and endurance and 2/5 for racing.

Tactica Kieskäfer or a road bib for gravel?

The Kieskäfer T5 is Assos’s gravel and singletrack bib: two thigh pockets for food and essentials, an insert Assos says has more shock-absorbing foam to mute gravel chatter, the Racing Series Type.911 fabric and rollBar bracing, and a Tactica fit that is less aggressive than racingFit and less restrictive off the bike. Assos says it replaces the Mille GTC Kiespanzer C2 and is built for both racing and touring. Our road bibs have no pockets. List price €180.

How do Assos bib shorts fit, and which size should I pick?

Measure around the narrowest part of your waist, then factor in your height, with the fullest part of your hips as a third reference, and check Assos’s chart in the size guide. Assos cuts its bibs to mirror your body on the bike: it’s normal to feel the straps and fabric pull while standing, and the shorts “click” into place once you’re in the riding position.

Tactica T5

Assos’s Tactica T5 chamois (single layer), with Shock-Absorb Damping Mono, goldenGate 2.0 and 3D Waffle.

RX EVO + K-Net

RX EVO is a breathable, temperature-regulating fabric with an eco water-repellent treatment and a soft brushed inner face; Assos says its elastic parts stay black when stretched. The thigh pockets are panels of K-Net mesh that hold their contents steady.

TACTICA T5 fit

Assos’s mobility-enhancing Tactica fit is less aggressive than its racingFit: streamlined and low-volume for aerodynamics, with multi-hour comfort and less restriction when you’re off the bike.

rollBar

A patented bib-strap bracing adapted from Assos’s Racing Series. It stabilises the insert and locks it in place as your weight shifts when sprinting, climbing and cornering.

zeroPressure Waist

A soft, very elastic waist construction for comfort and hold at the waist without pressure or pinching.

PILtec Plug-In

A light, very breathable textile band at the leg opening. The microdot silicone is invisible from outside but holds the leg in place, wet or dry.

Shock-Absorb Damping Mono (Tactica T5)

A single, breathable foam layer engineered to absorb the micro-shocks and vibration of gravel and singletrack. Assos says the T5 insert has more shock-absorbing foam than the previous generation.

goldenGate 2.0

A free-floating construction that moves with your body rather than against it; new cut-outs on the wings reduce friction through the pedal stroke (Assos).

3D Waffle

A patented, three-layer perforated foam that adds breathability and removes excess weight (Assos).
