Fizik says the Kudo Aero shares much of its design with the Kudo; the difference is where each puts its effort. The Kudo Aero adds a smooth top shell and a rear breakaway spoiler to cut drag and cools through two front vents and rear extractors (290 g claimed). The Kudo prioritises ventilation and low weight for hot days and long climbs, and its top side vents hold your sunglasses (280 g claimed). Both have Mips Air Node, the same fit system, the included rear light and the same sizes, and Virginia Tech gave both four stars with almost identical scores (12.72 and 12.86). Fast riding and racing: Kudo Aero. Heat and climbing: Kudo.

Both are Fizik road, gravel and XC helmets with an occipital dial, crown adjustment and top vents that hold your sunglasses. The Kudo has Mips Air Node, comes with the USB rear light and helmet bag, and Fizik claims 280 g; Virginia Tech gave it four stars (12.86). The Kyros uses Mips Evolve Core, sets its crown with detachable pins in three positions, is ready for the Fizik rear light but doesn’t include it, and weighs 295 g in size M (CE version, Fizik); Virginia Tech hasn’t tested it yet.

Do Fizik helmets have Mips?

Yes, all four do, in two versions. The Kudo, Kudo Aero and Kassis use Mips Air Node: an ultralight, low-friction layer built into the padding that dissipates rotational forces in a crash and comes out for cleaning. The Kyros uses Mips Evolve Core: a low-friction layer between the liner and the shell, which Fizik says helps dissipate rotational forces in angled impacts.

Which Fizik helmet size do I need?

Measure your head circumference just above the eyebrows and ears. Fizik uses one chart for the Kudo, Kudo Aero, Kassis and Kyros: S 52–56 cm, M 56–59 cm, L 59–61 cm (20.5–22, 22–23, 23–24 in). If you measure exactly 56 or 59 cm you are on the line between two sizes and Fizik gives no tie-break, so try both if you can; the occipital dial and the crown adjustment then fine-tune the fit.

How safe are Fizik helmets in the Virginia Tech tests?

Virginia Tech tested three of them in 2025 (lower score is better): Kudo Aero four stars, 12.72; Kudo four stars, 12.86; Kassis three stars, 13.72. The Kassis is listed as a mountain helmet but is scored on the same bicycle-helmet scale. The Kyros has not been tested yet.

Low-volume vented shell

The Kudo’s sleek, round profile minimises volume, which Fizik says reduces wind resistance and helps thermoregulation. Integrated vents keep you cool on hard efforts, and the top side vents hold your sunglasses when you’re not wearing them.

Shaped for safety

The smooth, rounded shape is designed to reduce surface grip in an impact, potentially lessening the force of a crash, and a crossbridge embedded in the EPS foam spreads impact forces across the helmet, according to Fizik.

Mips Air Node

A version of the Mips rotational-impact system built into the helmet's padding rather than added as a separate plastic liner, so the vents stay clear and weight stays down.

Dialed-in fit

A micrometric dial at the occipital stabiliser adjusts tilt for a personal fit and eyewear compatibility; a crown adjustment fine-tunes the helmet to the exact shape of your head, and lightweight ripstop webbing adjusts fully around the ears.

Integrated rear light

A removable passive reflector at the rear and a USB-rechargeable LED taillight that fits into the same port, with several modes for day and night riding. Fizik includes the light and a helmet bag.

Description

Fizik’s ventilated all-round helmet for road, gravel and XC, built for hot days, long climbs and hard efforts. It has Mips Air Node, a crossbridge in the EPS, a crown-adjustable fit and an included USB rear light at a claimed 280 g, and Virginia Tech rated it four stars (12.86, tested 2025). If outright speed matters more than airflow, look at the Kudo Aero; for trail riding, the Kassis.
