Both are Fizik off-road race shoes; the difference is sole and closure. The Ferox models use a full-carbon outsole at stiffness index 10 with a Powerstrap plus a BOA Li2 dial (297 g / 295 g per Fizik). The Proxy uses a carbon-reinforced nylon X3 outsole at stiffness index 8 and a single BOA Li2 dial with textile guides (326 g). Pick the Ferox for maximum stiffness and hold when racing; the Proxy if you want a slightly more forgiving sole and a simpler one-dial closure.

Is there a wide version of the Vento Proxy?

Yes, Fizik makes a Vento Proxy Wide: the same 326 g, stiffness-index-8 shoe with a single BOA Li2 dial, but on a wide fit. The Vento Proxy we stock is the regular fit (Fizik lists it as “Regular”), so if you usually need wide shoes, ask us before ordering.

Terra Atlas or Vento Proxy?

It depends on how much you ride versus walk. The Proxy is Fizik’s race shoe for XC, cyclocross and fast gravel: a carbon-reinforced nylon X3 sole at stiffness index 8, a single BOA Li2 dial, 326 g. The Atlas is the all-rounder: a hidden nylon plate at stiffness index 5, the lugged X5 outsole with rubber over the whole surface for hike-a-bike, a more generous fit and a TPU-reinforced toecap, 355 g. Racing or fast training: Proxy. Long days, bikepacking and rough trails where you’ll push: Atlas.

Which size should I get?

Go by foot length, not by the size of your other shoes. Stand on a sheet of paper, measure from the back of the heel to the tip of the longest toe, and find that length in Fizik’s size guide (the “Size guide” link next to the sizes): 270 mm is EU 42, 277 mm is EU 43. Fizik makes half sizes, and lists all these models as regular fit. Which sizes are in stock varies by colour, so check the size selector.

Which pedals and cleats do these shoes take?

Two-bolt cleats, the SPD-type system used by mountain-bike and gravel pedals. Fizik lists the outsole of the Ferox, Proxy, Atlas, Artica and Nanuq as “Clipless off-road” with adjustable cleat position, and the Beat as SPD-compatible with a two-bolt cleat track hidden in the sole. If your pedals are three-bolt road pedals (Shimano SPD-SL, Look Kéo), you need a road shoe instead.

Low weight, high performance

An off-road racing shoe for demanding XC tracks and fast gravel races. Fizik says the translucent PU-laminated mesh keeps it ventilated, light and comfortable, and the tearproof construction protects on rough terrain; listed weight 326 g.

Fine-tuned fit

A minimal, supportive closure pattern with BOA textile lace guides that balance tension and, Fizik says, eliminate pressure hot spots, on a single incremental Li2 BOA dial.

Power transfer in comfort

The redesigned X3 carbon-reinforced nylon outsole (Fizik stiffness index 8) adds stiffness for power transfer, and a generous rubber tread grips the pedals and gives traction on dismounted sections of a CX race.

Speed that blurs lines

CX, XC and gravel racing share a need for speed. Fizik positions the Proxy across all three: responsiveness off the line in cyclocross, nimbleness on technical XC trails and supportive comfort for fast gravel races.

BOA Li2 Fit System

A premium Li2 BOA dial: Fizik describes it as bi-directional and micro-adjustable, for a precision fit with even pressure distribution. On the Ferox models it closes the forefoot under a Powerstrap; on the Proxy it is the only closure, with BOA textile lace guides.
