What do I need to fit the RED XPLR power-meter ring?

SRAM's thread-mount chainring removal tool (TL-PMT-TCR-A1). Garbaruk's ring keeps the original 6.5 mm offset and works with RED XPLR AXS and Force AXS power meters.

Oval or round Garbaruk chainring?

Same mount, material and tooth profile. Garbaruk says the oval ring spreads pedalling torque more evenly, narrows the dead spots, eases climbing on soft or slippery ground and improves efficiency; the round ring gives the familiar, constant feel. The oval ring is directional, so it must be fitted the right way round.

Which chains work with Garbaruk chainrings?

Garbaruk lists its chainrings as compatible with all 9-, 10- and 11-speed chains, SRAM 12-speed MTB chains (Eagle and T-Type), KMC, Shimano HG+ and SRAM AXS Flattop chains.

What does the chainring offset mean?

Offset moves the teeth towards or away from the frame to set the chainline. Garbaruk publishes the offset for every size and shape in the spec table of each model (shown under Technologies); pick the size whose offset suits your frame and cassette.

Oval chainring

Garbaruk says its oval rings distribute pedalling torque more evenly, narrow the dead spots of the pedal stroke for a smoother ride, make climbing easier on soft and slippery ground and increase pedalling efficiency.

Garbaruk tooth profile

Garbaruk's chainring teeth have a special shape for tighter chain contact and softer pedalling, increased tooth height to hold the chain when the bike shakes over rough ground, and variable tooth thickness to prevent chain drops.

Chamfered edges and wide mud gap

Chamfered edges and a wide gap between the teeth keep mud from packing into the ring (Garbaruk).

1x weight saving

Going 1x with a Garbaruk ring saves 150–400 g on the whole bike, without a front derailleur or chain guide (Garbaruk). Direct-mount rings also drop the crank spider.

Fitting needs SRAM's thread-mount chainring removal tool (TL-PMT-TCR-A1). This is the oval version: Garbaruk says it evens out pedalling torque and eases climbing on loose ground.
