P ZERO Road or P ZERO Race?

Both are tube-type P ZEROs on a 120 TPI TechBELT casing. The P ZERO Road uses the EVO Compound and is Pirelli’s most all-round P ZERO, tuned for handling, comfort and protection. The P ZERO Race uses the SmartEVO compound and is built for high-intensity training and racing; it is also lighter — 235 g against 255 g in 700x28 (Pirelli’s claimed weights).

Tube type or TLR: which Pirelli road tyre should I choose?

TLR (tubeless ready) tyres can be set up tubeless: among the Pirelli road tyres we stock these are the P ZERO Race TLR SL-R, TLR RS, TLR and TLR 4S and the Cinturato EVO, and Pirelli marks them all hookless compatible. Tube-type tyres — the P ZERO Race RS, P ZERO Race, Race 4S, P ZERO Road and Cinturato Sport — are used with an inner tube, and the tyre itself can weigh less: the RS is a claimed 245 g in 700x30 against 310 g for the TLR RS. Pirelli recommends pairing the RS with its TPU SmarTUBE for a record system weight.

Can I use a Pirelli tube-type road tyre on a hookless rim?

Pirelli doesn’t mark its tube-type road tyres (P ZERO Race RS, P ZERO Race, Race 4S, P ZERO Road, Cinturato Sport) as hookless compatible: in its road catalogue the hookless badge appears only on tubeless-ready models. For a hookless rim, choose a TLR model such as the P ZERO Race TLR RS or the Cinturato EVO, and follow the pressure limits of Pirelli and your rim maker.
