P ZERO Race TLR RS or TLR SL-R?

Both use Pirelli’s SmartEVO² compound and are tubeless ready. The SL-R adds the PAAS aerodynamic profile and the new LiteCORE casing: in Pirelli’s internal tests against the TLR RS it saves up to 5 W on average in crosswinds (peaks of up to 15 W) and has 10% lower rolling resistance, and it is lighter — 275 g against 290 g in 700x28 (Pirelli’s claimed weights). The TLR RS uses the SpeedCORE casing and Pirelli makes it in more widths. For time trials and races where every watt counts, the SL-R; for a proven race tyre in more widths, the TLR RS.

P ZERO Race TLR or TLR RS?

Both are tubeless ready, made in Italy and built on Pirelli’s SpeedCORE casing. The TLR RS uses the newer SmartEVO² compound, which Pirelli says improves grip — especially in the wet — and lowers rolling resistance, on a lightened SpeedCORE: 290 g against 315 g in 700x28 (Pirelli’s claimed weights). The TLR keeps the SmartEVO compound, which Pirelli positions for racing as well as long, high-intensity rides. Choose the RS for race days, the TLR for a race-capable tyre you also train on.

Tube type or TLR: which Pirelli road tyre should I choose?

TLR (tubeless ready) tyres can be set up tubeless: among the Pirelli road tyres we stock these are the P ZERO Race TLR SL-R, TLR RS, TLR and TLR 4S and the Cinturato EVO, and Pirelli marks them all hookless compatible. Tube-type tyres — the P ZERO Race RS, P ZERO Race, Race 4S, P ZERO Road and Cinturato Sport — are used with an inner tube, and the tyre itself can weigh less: the RS is a claimed 245 g in 700x30 against 310 g for the TLR RS. Pirelli recommends pairing the RS with its TPU SmarTUBE for a record system weight.

Are Pirelli’s tubeless-ready road tyres hookless compatible?

Yes for the current models we stock: Pirelli’s catalogue shows its hookless-compatible badge on the P ZERO Race TLR SL-R, TLR RS, TLR and TLR 4S and on the Cinturato EVO. For the SL-R Pirelli adds “within the indicated maximum pressure limits”, so check the maximum pressure given by Pirelli and by your rim maker before inflating.
