P ZERO Race TLR or TLR RS?

Both are tubeless ready, made in Italy and built on Pirelli’s SpeedCORE casing. The TLR RS uses the newer SmartEVO² compound, which Pirelli says improves grip — especially in the wet — and lowers rolling resistance, on a lightened SpeedCORE: 290 g against 315 g in 700x28 (Pirelli’s claimed weights). The TLR keeps the SmartEVO compound, which Pirelli positions for racing as well as long, high-intensity rides. Choose the RS for race days, the TLR for a race-capable tyre you also train on.

What does 4S mean on a Pirelli P ZERO Race?

4S marks Pirelli’s all-season versions — Pirelli tags them “4 Season” and “All-season”. The P ZERO Race TLR 4S is tubeless ready, with the SmartNET Silica compound, which Pirelli rates as its best formulation for wet and chemical grip, on the SpeedCORE casing. The P ZERO Race 4S is the tube-type version, with the SmartEVO compound, the TechBELT casing and a deeper tread with more sipes to warm up and grip in low temperatures; Pirelli says its slightly thicker tread also adds mileage.

Tube type or TLR: which Pirelli road tyre should I choose?

TLR (tubeless ready) tyres can be set up tubeless: among the Pirelli road tyres we stock these are the P ZERO Race TLR SL-R, TLR RS, TLR and TLR 4S and the Cinturato EVO, and Pirelli marks them all hookless compatible. Tube-type tyres — the P ZERO Race RS, P ZERO Race, Race 4S, P ZERO Road and Cinturato Sport — are used with an inner tube, and the tyre itself can weigh less: the RS is a claimed 245 g in 700x30 against 310 g for the TLR RS. Pirelli recommends pairing the RS with its TPU SmarTUBE for a record system weight.

Are Pirelli’s tubeless-ready road tyres hookless compatible?

SmartEVO compound

Pirelli’s all-round road compound for racing and for long, high-intensity rides: a single compound built on three different polymers. Pirelli says it gives grip in any weather and very low rolling resistance, while standing up to high mileage and rougher road surfaces.

SpeedCORE casing

Pirelli’s patent-pending tubeless-ready construction: a thin, air-tight layer of rubber infused with aramid particles lines the inside of the tyre. Pirelli says the aramid improves mechanical resistance and air retention while keeping the casing flexible; it is made at Pirelli’s plant in Italy near its Milan headquarters.
