Carbon sole

The sole plate is made of carbon fibre rather than nylon or carbon-reinforced nylon. Carbon is stiffer and lighter, so less of your effort is lost to flex; the brand’s stiffness index is in the spec table.

Generous air vents

Generous air vents

Extra-large mesh vents that QUOC says optimise airflow across the foot to reduce overheating and swelling in warm, intense conditions; 5/5 on QUOC’s ventilation rating.

Advanced upper material

A superlight TPU upper, built in multiple layers, that QUOC says gives a supportive, close fit that forms to and follows the contours of the foot.

Secure wrap design

Secure wrap design

The M3 has no traditional tongue: the upper wraps over the foot and is closed by two dials with parallel lace guides, for what QUOC calls a close, comfortable fit and a direct connection to the bike.

Carbon race sole

An in-house developed unidirectional carbon outsole with built-in vents; QUOC says it is a superlight, extremely stiff pedalling platform (5/5 on its stiffness rating).

Moulded heel cup

Moulded heel cup

A specially shaped heel cup that QUOC says holds the foot firmly in place through the pedal stroke, combining comfort with performance.

Frequently asked questions

Answered from this product’s published information. Questions about orders or anything else go to our team.

M3 Air or M3 Pro?

Same idea: a carbon race sole (5/5 stiffness), a tongueless wrap and parallel dual dials. The Air has large mesh vents in a light TPU upper, 226 g, ventilation 5/5 on QUOC’s chart: the one for summer and hard indoor sessions. The Pro, developed with Geraint Thomas per QUOC, has a finely ribbed, laminated TPU upper built to reduce stretch for all seasons, plus a scuff-resistant TPU border, 240 g, ventilation 4/5. Mostly heat: Air; year-round racing: Pro.

Mono II or M3?

Both have full-carbon soles rated 5/5 for stiffness by QUOC and two dials. The Mono II is the classic: a leather-like microfibre upper with a padded tongue and an understated look, 244 g, for road riding and training (ventilation 3/5 on QUOC’s chart). The M3 Air and M3 Pro are QUOC’s race shoes: a tongueless TPU wrap with parallel dials, 226 g (Air) and 240 g (Pro), and more airflow (5/5 and 4/5). Comfort and looks: Mono II; racing: M3.

How do QUOC shoes size?

Measure your foot from heel to longest toe, in cycling socks, both feet, and use the larger. QUOC has two charts: for the same foot its gravel chart gives a bigger size than its road chart (a 27.0 cm foot is EU 42 in road shoes, EU 43 in gravel shoes). QUOC makes its shoes about 5 mm longer than the foot, advises sizing up if you are between sizes, and says its lace-up models suit wider feet. Whole EU sizes only, no wide versions. Cyclingnews found QUOC sizes slightly larger than most big brands, close to Shimano’s regular fit.

Is the QUOC dial a BOA?

No. QUOC uses its own in-house dial system on all its dial shoes (Mono II, M3, Escape, Gran Tourer II and XC). It tightens in small clicks; Cyclocross Magazine found that a short turn back releases the lace completely rather than loosening it click by click, so you re-tighten from open. QUOC sells its own replacement dial closure sets.

Which cleats do QUOC road shoes take?

QUOC’s road shoes (Mono II, M3 Air, M3 Pro, Escape Road) are drilled for 3-bolt road cleats, and QUOC lists them as compatible with Look and Speedplay. They have no 2-bolt SPD option; for SPD cleats you can walk in, look at the Escape Off-Road or a Gran Tourer.

QUOC: measure both feet in your cycling socks, at the end of the day, and use the larger one. Its shoes are made about 5 mm longer than the foot length in the chart. Between sizes, size up. Wider feet: QUOC says its lace-up models offer more adjustability. QUOC uses two charts: for the same foot, its gravel shoes can come out a size larger than its road shoes.

How to measure

Stand on a sheet of paper with your heel against a wall, mark the tip of your longest toe and measure the distance in centimetres. Measure both feet and go by the longer one.
