Stable connection

Stable connection

The SPD-SLR-specific cleat shape creates a seamless connection with the pedal for a more stable, connected feel.

Precision cleat setup

Multiple alignment markers and a centre window that shows the outsole grid on Shimano shoes, so the cleat is easy to position accurately and to return to a known setting.

Easier walking

A thinner rear section of the cleat improves walking off the bike.

New cleat adjustment

New cleat adjustment

On the newest Shimano road shoes the fore-aft cleat position is set at the shoe, with an extended range and easy-to-read markings, while the SPD-SLR cleat handles lateral adjustment. Splitting the two lets the cleat itself be more compact and lower.

No spacers, lighter set

CL-SL100, CL-SL110 and CL-SL120 no longer need spacers, which Shimano says makes the set up to 22% lighter than an SPD-SL cleat set including cleats, screws and spacers.

Frequently asked questions

Answered from this product’s published information. Questions about orders or anything else go to our team.

Which SPD-SLR cleat should I choose?

Shimano colour-codes them by float. Red CL-SL100 is fixed (0°), for sprinters or anyone who wants maximum power transfer above all. Blue CL-SL120 has 2° (±1°), a middle ground. Yellow CL-SL110 has 6° (±3°), comes with the pedals and is Shimano’s pick for most cyclists. Grey CL-SL130 also has 6° (±3°) but is made for non-Shimano and older Shimano shoes. Retailers that quote the yellow cleat as 3° are giving the per-side figure.

Do SPD-SLR cleats fit my SPD-SL pedals?

No. The CL-SL100, CL-SL110, CL-SL120 and CL-SL130 cleats only work with SPD-SLR pedals (PD-R9300, PD-R8200). Shimano lists them as not compatible with SPD-SL pedals such as the PD-R9100, PD-R8000 or PD-R7000. For those pedals you still need SM-SH10, SM-SH11 or SM-SH12 cleats.

Can I use my current road shoes with SPD-SLR pedals?

Yes, with SPD-SLR cleats. Shimano says most 3-bolt road shoes fit. On non-Shimano shoes and older Shimano shoes, Shimano notes that CL-SL100, CL-SL110 and CL-SL120 leave a reduced adjustment range, so they may not reach your current cleat position; the grey CL-SL130 keeps the traditional SPD-SL adjustment range for exactly that case, without the lower stack height or weight saving.

How do I position SPD-SLR cleats on the new Shimano shoes?

On the newest Shimano road shoes (such as the RC910 and RC810) you set the fore-aft position at the shoe and the lateral position at the cleat. The cleat has alignment markers and a centre window that shows the outsole grid, which makes it easy to note your position and return to it.

Description

The middle ground in Shimano’s SPD-SLR range: 2° of float in total, one degree each way. It keeps a precise, efficient connection while allowing a small amount of movement, between the fixed red CL-SL100 and the yellow CL-SL110 supplied with the pedals.

  • Float: 2° total (±1°)
  • Fits SPD-SLR pedals only (PD-R9300, PD-R8200), not SPD-SL
  • Alignment markers and a centre window for precise setup
  • No spacers needed: up to 22% lighter than an SPD-SL set (Shimano)
  • Thinner rear section for easier walking
