Aero chainring

A closed, disc-like chainring face. SRAM lists improved aerodynamics for time trial and triathlon as the reason for this version.

X-SYNC

SRAM's wide-tooth, narrow-tooth profile: alternating tooth widths fill the inner and outer chain links, which SRAM says gives maximum chain control on a single chainring without a front derailleur or chain guide.

X-Range gearing

SRAM's gearing concept for its AXS road groups: more range and a smoother step between gears, so, in SRAM's words, you are always in the right gear. Direct-mount rings let you pick the exact size you want and swap it quickly.

Aero or standard X-SYNC direct-mount ring?

Both are the same SRAM model family: aluminium, X-SYNC teeth, 8-bolt direct mount, 6.5 mm offset, 12/13-speed. The aero ring has a closed face that SRAM says improves aerodynamics for time trial and triathlon, and comes in the bigger sizes (44–50T here). The standard ring is lighter on the wallet and goes smaller (38–46T here), which suits gravel and hilly 1x setups.

Will this chainring fit my crankset?

It fits cranks with SRAM's 8-bolt direct-mount interface, which is what the RED and Force AXS E1 crank arms use — SRAM lists the mount as "8-Bolt", direct mount, 6.5 mm offset. It is a 1x ring only. If your crank arms are not the 8-bolt E1 type, it will not bolt on; send us your crank model and we will check.

Which chain do I need?

SRAM lists these rings for 12- and 13-speed drivetrains and for its Eagle, road Flattop (D1/E1) and T-Type chain technologies. A standard round-profile 11-speed chain is not on that list.
