The S TR (2/220 TPI) is Tubeless Ready, so you can run it tubeless with sealant or with an inner tube, and Continental states it is hookless compatible to its limited maximum pressure — it makes no such statement for the tube-type clincher. Can I use the tube-type Grand Prix 5000 on hookless rims?

Continental gives no hookless approval for the tube-type Grand Prix 5000: its hookless statement covers the Tubeless Ready versions (S TR, AS TR and TT TR). If your wheels are hookless, choose the GP5000 S TR, which Continental states is hookless compatible to its limited maximum pressure.

Can I use the Grand Prix 5000 on an e-bike?

In 700x30, yes: Continental’s catalogue approves the tube-type Grand Prix 5000 30-622 for e-bikes up to 50 km/h (E50). It gives no e-bike rating for the other sizes.

BlackChili Compound

Continental’s signature tread compound and its answer to the balance between grip and rolling resistance. Continental says the latest polymers, specially developed carbon-black particles and filler materials give it its performance on road, gravel and mountain-bike tyres, from time trials to downhill.

Vectran Breaker

A breaker spun from liquid-crystal polymer into a thermoplastic multi-thread yarn. Continental says the fabric is more cut-resistant than aramid with five times the tensile strength of steel, and that a Vectran breaker is lighter, more flexible and better against cuts than a comparable nylon breaker — without affecting rolling resistance.

LazerGrip

A lasered micro-profile structure that extends over the tyre’s shoulder; Continental says it gives outstanding cornering grip — “to make you one with the road”.

Active Comfort Technology

A layer embedded in the tyre construction that, Continental says, absorbs vibrations and smooths the ride.
