Grand Sport Race or Ultra Sport III?

Both are PureGrip-compound, 180 TPI tube-type clinchers of similar weight (700x25: 270 g and 265 g, Continental). The difference is protection: the Grand Sport Race adds a NyTech puncture breaker on what Continental calls a proven racing contour, while the Ultra Sport III has no named breaker and is Continental’s tyre for riders new to road cycling. If flats worry you, take the Grand Sport Race; for even more protection, the Gatorskin.

Gatorskin or Gator Hardshell?

Both are Continental’s tough road tyres with 180 TPI casings and DuraSkin sidewall protection. The Gatorskin uses the PolyX Breaker.
