Terra Adventure or Terra Trail?

Terra Adventure is Continental’s tough-gravel tyre: an MTB-inspired knobby tread for rough gravel, loose and natural soils in dry to wet conditions, in widths up to 55 mm, on the Trail casing (3/330 TPI) with Grip compound — Continental pitches it for off-road bikepacking and challenging gravel rides. The Terra Trail rolls fast in a straight line like the Terra Speed and adds a large, robust shoulder tread for technical trails, on a 180 TPI casing with ProTection or ShieldWall puncture protection. Both are Tubeless Ready and hookless compatible to their limited maximum pressure.

Is this Continental tyre hookless compatible?

Yes, within limits. Continental’s catalogue states that this tyre is hookless compatible to its limited maximum pressure and asks you to check the wheel manufacturer’s instructions and the tyre packaging. The packaging lists the maximum inflation pressure and the maximum inner rim width, which can differ between hooked and hookless rims.

Q: How do I set up a Continental TR tyre tubeless — and can I use an inner tube?

Both work: Continental designs its Tubeless Ready (TR) tyres to run tubeless or with an inner tube. For the first tubeless mounting it recommends at least 30 ml of Conti RevoSealant per tyre; spin the wheel to spread the sealant, pump to the allowed maximum pressure, and check the pressure again before your next ride.

Grip compound

“Flexible, damping and traction”: designed for modern cross-country, down-country, trail and gravel riding. Continental says it offers an excellent balance of grip and rolling resistance and is the number-one choice for all-round balanced characteristics. Terra Competition tread design

A light-knobbed pattern for light gravel, compacted soils and rough, worn tarmac: an almost continuous centre for uncompromised straight-line speed, more pronounced knobs and drainage elements towards the shoulder for off-road grip, and an overall design that reduces aerodynamic drag. Continental calls it its fastest-ever gravel tyre.

Tubeless Ready (TR)

Continental says its TR casing is robust against damage and penetration from foreign objects, and that TR tyres can be run tubeless or with an inner tube. For the first tubeless mounting Continental recommends at least 30 ml of Conti RevoSealant per tyre: spin the wheel to spread it, pump to the allowed maximum pressure and check the pressure again before the next ride.

E-bike approval

Continental draws on more than 100 years of moped and motorcycle tyres for its e-bike tyres. Tyres marked E25 are approved for e-bikes up to 25 km/h; those marked E50 are also certified for S-Pedelecs up to 50 km/h. Continental says their structure gives high puncture protection and low rolling resistance, and protects against the premature wear caused by the extra driving force.
