Carbon sole

The sole plate is made of carbon fibre rather than nylon or carbon-reinforced nylon. Carbon is stiffer and lighter, so less of your effort is lost to flex; the brand’s stiffness index is in the spec table.

Made in Italy

Made in Italy

Nimbl crafts the shoe with the finest Italian fabrics and manufacturing expertise, for quality and durability. Every Nimbl pair is handmade and typically made to order.

Speedplay native, or classic three-bolt

Speedplay native, or classic three-bolt

Two monocoque carbon chassis: a three-bolt mount for Look KEO and Shimano SPD-SL pedals, or a dedicated four-bolt Speedplay mount with no adapter plate. Nimbl says a generous fore-aft range lets you place the cleat precisely.

A chassis built for power transfer

A chassis built for power transfer

The monocoque carbon chassis wraps the foot for stability and, Nimbl says, is engineered for higher power transfer while keeping the contour and measurements riders already trust. Under 2 mm of stack keeps you directly over the pedal.

One clean layer between you and the bike

One clean layer between you and the bike

A 1.2 mm microfiber upper, built without a tongue and backed with memory foam, wraps the foot in one uninterrupted surface. Nimbl says heel retention is excellent, holding you in place through out-of-the-saddle efforts.

Racing design

Racing design

Nimbl says racing is about being essential, practical and visible: the best materials to keep the shoe light and functional, and a generous logo to stand out in every race.

BOA closure

Nimbl says the BOA closure system locks your foot in place with precision, for confident, tactile control where it matters most.

Frequently asked questions

Answered from this product’s published information. Questions about orders or anything else go to our team.

How do Nimbl shoes size?

Nimbl sizes by length. Trace your foot with the heel against a wall, measure heel to longest toe in cm and compare it with the inner-sole length in Nimbl’s table in the size guide. Nimbl’s own examples: a 27.3 cm foot is a 44 (27.5 cm insole) and a 25.8 cm foot is a 41.5 — so don’t pick a size whose insole is shorter than your foot. Size for your longer foot; if your feet differ by more than 5 mm, Nimbl asks you to contact them. road.cc’s tester ended up half a size above his usual size in other brands, so trust the measurement, not your usual number.

What does the Pro Edition add?

Nimbl’s Pro Editions are the race-configured versions, at the same €559 RRP as the standard shoes, with bold logos and lighter materials. Exceed Pro: 192 g in size 43, BOA Li2 with cotton lace guides and a redesigned ventilation layout; Nimbl says it’s a favourite of its pro riders. Glide Pro: 172 g against the Glide’s 190 g, with a 1.2 mm tongueless microfiber upper backed by memory foam. At Nimbl both come with a three-bolt or a Speedplay-specific chassis.

Ultimate Exceed or Ultimate Glide?

Same price (€559 RRP at Nimbl) and the same base: a handmade monocoque carbon sole with under 2 mm of stack and two BOA Li2 dials. The difference is the upper. The Glide has a tongueless microfiber upper whose sides wrap over each other, which Nimbl says improves the connection between foot and shoe; Cycling Weekly contrasts it with the classic tongue of the Ultimate, the line the Exceed continues. Nimbl quotes 190 g for the Glide and 192 g for the Exceed Pro Edition (size 43); it gives no figure for the standard Exceed. Choose the Glide for a seamless wrap, the Exceed if you like a traditional tongue.

Which pedals do Nimbl road shoes work with? Can I use Speedplay?

The standard chassis takes three-bolt road cleats (Look KEO, Shimano SPD-SL). Nimbl says Speedplay cleats also fit the three-hole sole with Speedplay’s own baseplate, which comes with the cleats. Nimbl also makes a four-bolt Speedplay-specific chassis for the Exceed and Glide lines, used with Speedplay’s protection shim. The Urano gravel shoe takes 2-bolt SPD.

Nimbl lists the inner-sole length of each size. Measure your foot (heel against a wall, to the longest toe) and take the size that most closely matches it without being shorter — Nimbl’s examples: 27.3 cm = EU 44, 25.8 cm = EU 41.5. Size for your longer foot; if your feet differ by more than 5 mm, Nimbl asks you to contact them. All Nimbl shoes are built on a wider-than-average last, in one width, and are not heat-mouldable. Nimbl sells EU 39.5, which its chart does not list.

How to measure

Stand on a sheet of paper with your heel against a wall, mark the tip of your longest toe and measure the distance in centimetres. Measure both feet and go by the longer one.
